United States Navy Seabees

The Navy organized the construction battalions, or 'CBs', during the first days of 1942 and the name 'Seabees' was quickly adopted to identify the men of the new organization.
The men were mostly 'Construction stiffs', men with specialized building skills. Many were well over draft age who gave up high paying war work to enlist. All lived up to their motto, 'Construimus Batuimus - We Build We Fight' 'Can Do!'
