The first German church in Michigan was built on this spot A.D. 1833 by the First German Evangelical Society of SCIO Township which is now the Bethlehem Evangelical Church of Ann Arbor.
This tablet was placed here August 26 A.D. 1923 the ninetieth anniversary of the first service held.
